Vietnam is missing from Tripadvisor’s list of the world’s 25 best food destinations for 2025, despite Hanoi claiming the top spot last year.
This year, European cities dominated the list.
Rome took first place, followed by London and Marrakech. Paris and Naples rounded out the top five.
Other cities on the list are Barcelona, Lima, New Orleans, Buenos Aires, and Athens.
The 2025 Travelers’ Choice Awards are based on the quality and quantity of traveler reviews submitted on Tripadvisor between Oct. 1, 2023, and Sept. 30, 2024. These rankings highlight destinations that have won the hearts of food lovers worldwide.
According to Tripadvisor, the selected cities will “whet your appetite – from breakfast till supper.”
Hanoi’s absence from this year’s list has disappointed industry insiders, as Vietnamese cuisine has become a major draw for international tourists and a key competitive advantage for the country’s tourism sector.
Last year, Hanoi was also recognized among the world’s 50 best food cities for the 2024–2025 period by international food magazine TasteAtlas.
Vietnam’s global culinary reputation has been further boosted by Michelin’s arrival in the country in 2023 and its expansion to Da Nang in 2024. Currently, Hanoi is home to four Michelin-starred restaurants.
